A Drug De-addiction awareness Camp was organized by the District Legal Services Authority
Hoshiarpur : A Drug De-addiction awareness Camp was organized by the District Legal Services Authority, Hoshiarpur at the New District & Sessions Court Complex, Hoshiarpur under the able guidance and supervision of Mr. Dilbagh Singh Johal, Ld. District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Hoshiarpur in collaboration with District Drug De- addiction & Rehabilitation Centre, Hoshiarpur.
A Team of Experts including the Medical Officers, Psychologists, Counsellors, Pharmacists and Field Workers attended the Camp and catered to the queries and needs of the Public/ litigants/ victims of Drug addiction. The Camp focused on discouraging the General Public visiting the Court Complex to consume the Drugs. The Ld. District & Sessions Judge, Hoshiarpur asked the Team from the Drug De-addiction Centre to keep organizing such like Camps for the benefit of the General Public/ Victims of Drug abuse. He stressed upon the utility of Community based interventions and preventive strategies to create awareness in the community of the existence of Alcohol and other Drug related Problems.
Ms. Aprajita Joshi, Ld. Chief Judicial Magistrate- cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Hoshiarpur stated that identifying substance misusing individuals in Main catchment areas and adjoining localities and to initiate the process of Pre- treatment counselling to clarify myths and misconceptions associated with Drug misuse is the need of the hour. These camps must focus on suggesting possible remedial steps and to provide Low Cost treatment services within the community to curb the Drug menace.
